A very special event took place from
02/15-02/24/2008 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
It was the annual Scottsdale Arabian
Horse Show and I had the chance to ride
and compete there with my horse Kandy.
My mum specially flew in from Germany
to join us to the show and support
Klaus and me in every matter.
After a 32 hour drive we (That's Klaus,
my mum, Kandy, our German Shepherd Gypsy
and I) finally arrived in Scottsdale on
02/12/2008.
Kandy was doing great even after such a
long ride.
We directly moved her in the stall and
also moved all my tack in our tack
stall.
The first two days, the show hadn't
start yet, we used to show Kandy
everything so that she can settle down
and get
used to the arenas and the surroundings.
We also were exploring the show grounds,
which has 9 (3 covered) huge riding
arenas,
almost a mile of food tents and a lot
of tack stores. It was overwhelming how
big everything was, but on the other
side also impressive
how good the organization was, which
brought everything and everybody so
close together, that there wasn't a lot
of walking necessary.
The show started on Friday, lasting over
10 show days, with around 2700 horses
participating and showing and competing
in over 800 classes, which
included English, Driving, Reining,
Cattle, Dressage, Sporthorses and Show
Jumping.
It was amazing to see all these amazing
and beautiful horses.
One of these horses was my little
Arabian Purebred mare Kandy (Isle B
Exceptional).
We had entered in Dressage, Sporthorse
and Show Jumping classes.
Somehow Kandy knew that the competition
is huge and she really gave everything
and even there were a lot of new things
going around the arenas, she really
concentrated on me and our classes.
We had a lot of fun and we finished all
in all with very good results.
Here
is what Kandy and I accomplished
together:
• 1st place, 2x 3rd places and 6th
place in
Dressage Training Level
• 2nd place, 3rd place and 4th
place in
Show Jumping 3'3"-3'6"
•
and a TOP TEN
Championship Sporthorse under
Saddle
I was very proud on Kandy and happy
about our success.
Thanks so much to my family who were a
great help and support in every moment!
This trip would have been impossible
without you.
We also had the chance to visit the
Grand Canyon on a class-free day.
Wow, that was wonderful!!
Luckily the weather was perfect and we
spent a great day at the Grand Canyon
with amazing views and unforgettable
impressions.

A NEW FAMILY MEMBER
-1-7-08
We were very anxious to welcome our new
family member on January 7th, 2008.
Vilas County is his name. He's a 4 year
old, dark bay Thoroughbred gelding. He
currently measures almost 17hh, which
means he will be definitely well over
17hh when finished growing. Vilas is a
gentle giant with exceptional movement.
He is a grandson of A.P. Indy who is by
Seattle Slew. A.P. Indy was the leading
sire in North America in 2003 and 2006.
He also has Lephard, Raise a Native,
Storm Cat and Secreteriat in his
breeding (Click here to see his pedigree
http://www.pedigreequery.com/vilas+county)
Vilas came of the track sound and in
good physical condition. He now enjoys
his life with our other two horses
(Darren and Kandy) on the farm.
He will be trained to be a sporthose, to
be shown in Dressage, Show Jumping and
Eventing.
Click here to see pictures of his first
days at our farm.
The reason why everything was so
exciting, is, that we bought Vilas sight
unseen. We had to make our decision just
from a ton of pictures as he was still
located at a racetrack in Florence,
Kentucky. There he didn't show that much
ability to win races, so his former
owner decided to find him a good home.
But it turned out that we made the right
decision and now we are more than happy
to have Vilas at our farm.
We say "Thanks so much" to Elizabeth
Zuber and Barry Woods from Bits and
Bytes Farm in Canton, GA (www.bitsandbytesfarm.com)
to help us in finding this wonderful
horse. Elizabeth convinced us in making
this decision. Not only through her
life-time experience in placing OTTB (Of
the Track Thoroughbreds) in good homes
with a future, but also through her
loving and kind personality she assured
us in getting Vilas.
