Welcoming, Warm & Always an Open Ear

Dream it. Do It.

Set on 81 acres of rolling pastures, tree-lined trails, and babbling brooks, The Welcome Farm is the realization of a lifelong dream—an equestrian oasis rooted in quality, care, and possibility.

How it all began.

In 2006, Katharina and Klaus Huenermann had the opportunity to move from Germany to the United States for work. They embraced the adventure wholeheartedly, relocating to the small town of Roopville, Georgia—just an hour west of Atlanta. It meant learning a new language, building new friendships, and starting a new chapter.

It was during that chapter that a long-held dream resurfaced—having horses at home. Lifelong equestrian Katharina, and Klaus, who grew up on his family farm in Germany, were done waiting.

Once they found the right house and land, the real work started. Evenings and weekends were spent building stalls and pasture fences, renovating the home, and making countless improvements to the property.

What they envisioned as a home for their own horses grew organically, as friends asked to board their horses. Three stalls became ten, but the same thoughtful approach and commitment to quality endured.

And despite what many assume, the road was not named after our farm—the opposite, in fact. Katharina loved the name, and it felt like the perfect fit. “The Welcome Farm” reflects who they are at their core: warm, open-hearted, and always ready to welcome horses and humans, alike.

What sets us apart.

  • Why we started, what inspired our name, and the values that guide everything we do—bringing together the best of German horsemanship and American opportunity to create a thoughtful, welcoming place for horses and people.

  • A commitment to true horsemanship that extends beyond scores in the show ring, emphasizing correct training, attentive care, and deep respect for the horse’s physical and mental well-being.

  • An open, welcoming environment that encourages learning, collaboration, and support among fellow horse people, fostering a positive, drama-free culture built on kindness and shared values.

  • Raising the bar on exceptional horse welfare, safe and well-maintained facilities, and ethical practices that prioritize the long-term health, comfort, and happiness of every horse in our care.

  • A focus on continual development—whether nurturing young horses, helping riders progress, or contributing positively to the broader equestrian community and sport.
